Tapping Grey Sun Screened Hamburgers
Oye, I'm starting to get really lax in my posting! Good think the celebrating is still going on! :-)
Tuesday was Tap Dancing Day. To celebrate, I found this great clip from one of the best comedies of all time. It was the perfect way to celebrate something that I can't do... and neither can he:
Wednesday was "Grey Day", which was appropriate given the especially grey days we've been having of late. It was a good day to cuddle up in a blanket and read with my baby girl. Grey days aren't sooooooooo bad when you have cuddles to share.
Thursday brought with it the celebration of sun screen. An odd day to celebrate, especially since (as stated above) the weather has been grey, but a good reminder to "cream up" and protect our skin. We were at the park over the weekend and forgot to do that. My neck is still itchy from where the sun kissed me a little too long.
Today (Friday) is Hamburger Day. Had I planned better I would have had my hubby grill burgers for dinner tonight. Instead, we ate leftover "Cheeseburger Pizza" from Panago (our new fav) and read through some amazing burger recipes in a recent issue of The FoodNetwork's magazine! Yum!

Tomorrow: International Jazz Day; End of the Middle Ages Day.

Memos, Pudding, Taffy, and Escargot
With the first long weekend of the "summer" finally here, I have to admit that my daily celebrations fell by the wayside. Not because we went away or were too busy long-weekending it, but honestly more because the choice of celebrations didn't do much for me.
Friday was memo day. I wrote a memo to myself to pray more, treasure more and celebrate more. That was it.
Saturday was Vanilla Pudding Day, the only day I really had intended to celebrate. I even bought vanilla pudding in advance for the occassion. And the I just plain forgot about it in the midst of our family fun day of movies, sleeping and just enjoying one another. The pudding is still in the cupboard, uneaten. But the intention was there... does that count?
Sunday was either Taffy Day or World Turtle Day. I'm not a fan of taffy. I hate it when it gets stuck in my teeth! And turtles? Well, aside from playing with a toy turtle my daughter has, our Sunday was truly a lazy day of rest after an incredibly uplifting time of worship with our friends at The Life Centre.
And today, well today was "Escargot Day," and I have one word for that... YUCK! ;-) So, instead we celebrated Victoria Day (a day off for us in Canada) with some family time at the mall and at a local park. It was a good day... free of escargot.
What have you done to celebrate life lately?
Tomorrow: National Missing Children Day; Tap Dance Day; Brown Bag It Day; Wine Day.

Dirty Dishes, Devil's Food, and Millions
Tuesday was "No Dirty Dishes" Day.
Wednesday we celebrated "Devils' Food Cake" day.
And today, I dreamed of being a millionaire.
While I make it my goal not to have a pile of dirty dishes stacked in my stink... ever..., which made Tuesday a pretty easy day to celebrate, today's day of celebration got me dreaming about what it would be like to have a maid who took care of simple things like that for me. And while dreaming of that, I dreamt of having a chef who would bake Devils' Food Cake for me instead of baking one from a mix like I did yesterday! Yes, a million dollars would certainly be a nice thing to have.
What have you done to celebrate over the last few days?
Tomorrow: National Bike to Work Day; National Memo Day; National Waitress or Waiter Day; Strawberries & Cream Day!

Drooling Pack Rats
Ok, so no, this post is not literally about drooling pack rats. That was just to get you to read it. This post is about drooling and pack rats separately however.
Yesterday was National Coquilles St. Jacques Day. I had no idea what that was, so I did what all good web surfers do... I Googled it. Call me crazy, but "Bing'ing" something just doesn't seem right. I'm a Google girl to the core.
Anyway, it was in my quest to learn what Coquilles St. Jacques was, that the drooling came into play. While I didn't have the cash to go and pick up everything I needed to make Coquilles St. Jacques, I did spend some time drooling over various recipe variations of what I learned to be a french feast of scallops! Yum! I've added it to my list of "must make this soon" recipes and plan to do so the minute I find a moment and some extra cash. Hum... perhaps that would make the perfect meal to celebrate my hubby getting a job???? Something to think about...
Today, I went from drooling to being completely grossed out by the concept of pack rats. I watched a re-run episode of Hoarders. I've never watched this, and frankly didn't even realize that this was literally a "condition." Never in my life would I consider hanging on to well, everything! As the daughter of missionaries, and one used to the process of packing, purging and moving on a regular basis, the concept of being a pack rat isn't even in my line of vision. Add to that my obsession with cleanliness and hoarding just makes my skin crawl. Wow.
What did you do to celebrate today?
Tomorrow: International Museum Day; No Dirty Dishes Day; Visit Your Relatives Day; Cheese Souffle Day.

Exhausted Cocktails and Chicken
My goal to celebrate Limerick Day on Wednesday turned out to be more of an unintentional celebration of "Fatigue Syndrome Day" instead. While I don't actually suffer from FS, I sure felt like I did on Wednesday when both my darling daughter and I came down with a nasty cold. Thanks to a sleepless night, and pounding head, all creativity to form a witty limerick died and in it's place was an afternoon of cuddling, wiping snotty noses and wishing for sleep.
Thursday dawned brighter (although not any less sleepy) and we celebrated "Fruit Cocktail Day" with our own blend of fruits from our pantry - strawberries, mangos, banana and some yogurt. Just what the doctor ordered for a house full of sicklys! ;-)
Today, while my daughter and I are on the mend and feeling the energy coming back, we will dance like chickens in honour of "Dance like a Chicken Day" while my poor hubby goes back to bed thanks to our loving desire to be a family who shares... poor guy.

I Love Toast
Next to mac n' cheese, I looooooooooove toast. Toast with just butter. Toast with jam. Toast with peanut butter. Toast, toast, toast! So today, I chose to celebrate "Eat What You Want Day" by eating my favourite, toasty, homey, treat for breakfast, as a snack later in the day, and for dessert. ;-)

Still in awe...
I treasure each moment
savour each breath;
giving thanks for this miracle
as I proclaim "I am blessed!"
For out of the barrenness
He did answer my cries
and in each little moment
I see Him in her eyes.
savour each breath;
giving thanks for this miracle
as I proclaim "I am blessed!"
For out of the barrenness
He did answer my cries
and in each little moment
I see Him in her eyes.

Dieting, Tubas, and Socks...
On Thursday we celebrated "No Diet Day" by endulging in some guilty pleasures. Mac n' Cheese for mom and tot's lunch, Tim Bit bites for the family for dessert, some potato chips that we rarely keep in the house... etc. It was bad... but fun. ;-)
Yesterday the celebrations of choice didn't particularly leave me feeling inspired. I love cooking but don't really enjoy lamb, so roasting a leg of lamb didn't sound very fun. International Tuba Day was really all there was to celebrate, so I looked up the tuba on the internet and learned that "tuba" is latin for trumpet or horn. Interesting.
Today, however, is a day I can get on board with and we have the perfect weather in which to celebrate it. It's "No Socks Day!" To strip off those stinky socks, and bury your toes in some fresh grass, warm sand or simply enjoy letting your "dogs" air out! We're headed to the park for a picnic and some fun without our socks. ;-)

Cinco de Mayo
Happy Cinco de Mayo. If I'd planned my menu properly I would have planned for a Mexican meal tonight, but alas that wasn't what I had already prepared. So instead we celebrated the Cinco de Mayo with an asian noodle stir fry. Ha ha. It was in my heart all day though...

Lumpy Rugs & OJ
I spent yesterday bemoaning the cold/flu that hit me on the weekend and was still lingering on a windy, rainy Monday. It turns out that being home sick gave me the opportunity to celebrate "Lumpy Rug Day" by staring at, complaining about, and wishing I could something with our lumpy rugs! ;-) When our house was renovated by the old owner, they skimped a little when they had the new carpets installed. As a result, we have a few sections of our carpets that bulge with the underlay that doesn't sit quite right. It's delightful.
Today's day of celebration (at least the day I choose to honour)... Orange Juice. The perfect beverage for our whole family as we get over, come down with, or try to prevent the cold/flu! ;-)
What have you done to celebrate life lately?
Tomorrow: Cinco De Mayo!, National Hoagie Day, Oyster Day.

Baby Day
18 months ago a little wiggling buddle of energy changed our lives forever.

Mother Goose, Sesame Street Style
It is "Mother Goose Day;" the perfect day to celebrate with our 18 month old monkey! While we do have a large book full of Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes that we read to her on occassion, she was much to wiggly for that today. So, we celebrate Mother Goose by visiting her favourite website - the Sesame Street site! ;-)
