How 'Bout Them Apples!!!

Today I decided to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day, mostly because I had heard the name before but had no idea who he was or what it meant. According to HolidayInsights.com:

"
Johnny Appleseed Day honors one of America's great legends. Johnny Appleseed was a real person. John Chapman was among the American settlers who were captivated by the movement west across the continent. As Johnny Appleseed travelled west, he planted apple trees along the way, and sold trees to settlers. With every apple tree that was planted, the legend grew." (Read more here.)

So in honour of Johnny Appleseed, the Lau family dined on apples and apple related foods today. From apple juice to fresh apples, applesauce and apple flavoured gummies. I also searched the web for great apple recipes too and found some I look forward to trying in the days to come. And, in my search on the web I discovered just how many varieties of apples there are! The list found at All About Apples blew my mind!

Here's to Johnny Appleseed... long live the apple!

How did you choose to celebrate life today?

Tomorrow: Alfred Hitchcock Day; Organize Your Home Office Day; National Baked Scallops Day; Girls Scouts Day
